This refers to an electronic circuit that enables a user to add to the features of a computer system. In order to add a feature to a computer system, the required electronic board is plugged into the motherboard (main electronic circuit board in the computer system) making use of expansion slots (sockets within the motherboard). Expansion boards may be used to increase computer memory and also, to improve the visual capability of a system, to add an audio capability to the system, to increase disk space of the system, etc.
